I don't think any compensation is due but an offer by the garage regards inconvenience would be nice. Saying that you would be entitled to any out of pocket expense this situation has caused. I would also expect the car to be returned to you in the same condition it was left with them. Make sure any repair to the car is done properly.

    post above has it right,

You are not "entitled" to anything except to cover your losses.

    Your losses so far
    Damage to car
    Brakes need repairing
    replacement car needed

They have satisfied No. 3 already. They will be in dispute with other driver about repair to your door, their problem they will sort it out. If they have any sense they will get the car repaired ASAP (and dispute with other driver to recover their losses or not), and fix the brakes and return it to you ASAP. When they have done this their responsibilities to you are concluded.

I think we are all pointing in the same direction:T, but for a second put yourself in the position of the OP. His/her pride and joy has been destroyed by the negligence of a garage. They have a moral right if not a legal one to come out on top;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Agreed - I can't say how I'd react in the OP's situation tbh

You would like to think so, but but there is a clause called betterment in most claims. Most insurance companies have a limit on the level of betterment they will pay some as low as £40/50.
I think if the OP has their car repaired to an acceptable condition and the garage offer an apology would cover it.

Giving them something over this would be nice but I would rather have a nice bottle of Johnnie Walker black label then let this garage at my car again.

That's kinda what we are all saying, get something then get away;);)

There was an episode of "The Apprentice" recently where the team leader had an order for 1000 bread rolls
a load of croissants and possibly more

He turned up at the hotel at 5am with 6 bread rolls :rotfl:
He gave the Hotel £150 in compensation.

It may have made him feel better but he was fired because it's obvious the hotel was never going to use his baking services again so he just wasted £150. If the garage owner gives something on top it will only be to satisfy his own consience, it will make very little business sense to do so.
