Good it all sounds positive. Well done. 000203FA.gif
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Had a rather weird and embarresed converation with my my family this weekend.

I was out in my step-fathers garden having a cigarette with him, when out of the blue he turns round and says "I need to talk to you about money in a couple of months son!".

Long story short my parents have heard about my debt problems from my OH (she accidentally let slip the other day when she was saying that she's concerned about momey), and the upshot is that in January my step-dad has a pension that matures. They are willing to give me the money to consolidate my loans in return for £50 or £100 per month interest free.

Depending on how much my debts and repayments are at the time it would be ideal.

So far this weekends turned out rather good.

Bubbles this sounds good but can you clarify something are they paying off all the loans themselves from their pension fund or are they funding a consolidated loan agreement you are going to have to take out?

They say that they will give me the money to do with as I please providing it goes on my debts. At the moment it will go on the Loan I beleive. Freeing up potentially £80 per month.
  • Sounds good to me. well done.

  • Thanks savingwannabe.

The last couple of days have been kind of good.

Had a conversation with the OH last night and it would appear I had the wrong end of the stick. She only wants more money at the moment due to it being crimbo soon. She's quite happy to live with a drop in money. This all came from talking about her plans for us to move out soon. She wanted to move to a house closer to her family that has a better garden, by better I mean it had a decent sized patch of grass compared to our current none!

She then wanted to move in a couple of years time again to a bigger house (3 bed) for the birth of child 2 (already planning them all out after having her first). I managed o persuade her that it would be pretty pointless and a waste to move that often in so little time, so for the time being we are staying here.

I finally had chance to speak to my manager today about the possibilty of me going on nights (in order to gain £40 pw night bonus). The idea was that it benefits me and the company, thought they haven't decided what they are doing yet. So the manager is aware of my desire to move to nights so my fingers are still crossed.

It is good to communicate. Hopefully you have reduced potential outgoings by not moving to a more expensive house and increased your income by offering to work extra hours to your boss. Jolly well done Bubbles. 000203FC.gif

Well done isn't it funny how in a few days everything seems more manageable? Well done, if you want an inspirational thread read Worried Jim's. He rocks. I only met him in April (on the site) but he has been around for ages and his life is pretty fun now. He cheers me up.

I'm working through Firewalker's excellent thread at the moment. I read during my breaks at work, whilst having my breakfast and any other time (apart from when i'm on laptop), and all on my phone. So far I am only on page 15 I think. Very good read but will remember this suggestion and read soon.
