Looking for a UK version of 'Rain-X'
When I lived in the US, I was able to buy a product called 'Rain-X', which was a liquid you wiped on your windscreen that made water bead up better. It was so good that when it was newly applied, I could drive down the motorway in a heavy rain without needing the wipers! The water just rolled off--wonderful for visibility! The effectiveness wore off with time, but it only had to be reapplied a few times a year, and a bottle of the stuff lasted forever.
Does anyone know what I mean? Is there a similar product in the UK?

You can still get it, in fact it was recently tested along with other car products in AutoExpress, I get mine from Motorsavers"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
I found it to be very effective if you were moving at a reasonable speed. However when you had to use your wipers it left a coating on the glass which made the blades judder across the screen. I think mine came from Halfords0

Do Halfords do their own version? I thought I saw something like Rain-X last time I went in one.0

Yes, I checked Halfords today too. Their version is the same price as rain-X but you get a slightly bigger bottle. There's also a version by Mer but I think that was more expensive again.
I've never been tempted to buy Rain-X. If it rains I put my wipers on.
What actually is the point of this stuff?0 -
origonally - motorcylce/motorsport helmets - keeps the visor clear, since they dont have wipers.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0

Amway used to do a version too. I think you mix it in with your screenwash so you don't have to apply it separately0
