Supermarket Parking Notice !!

Hi , hope someone can offer some advice on this one ..

A car was parked in Morrisons Supermarket car park, where you are limited to 2 hours if you are shopping in their store. However it was parked up at the bottom of the car park and the people had an appointment which is conveniently over the road from the Supermarket. The appointment lasted 5 mins in total ( they parked at 9.12am and returned to the Supermarket to do shopping approximately 5 - 10 mins later) they got back to car at this point . they shopped and then got back to car , within the 2 hour time limit, and low and behold there was a penalty notice stuck to car window. On the ticket it said Time : 9.17am "seen leaving site " and the reason code said Number 08 - which translates into "causing an obstruction to other users". car was parked in an allocated bay and although they did leave the site they returned within the time to do shopping. they never keep receipts so cannot prove they shopped and paid in cash so there will be no bank statement proof. Can anyone help - what to do?? Pay or Not Pay? It also says on the back of the Notice that they will contact the DVLA for the name and address of the registered keeper and this will result in further action being taken Look forward to hearing from anyone who has had this experience before.

The company is CP Plus Ltd.

Loads of people have. That's what this board is about. Read some of the threads (most are exactly the same as yours; only the company name is different). Then... ignore.

You'll get some letters, but feel free to come back for reassurance when you do.
  • Thank you very much for the advice - just needed the reassurance that I could ignor it . :) I might return if I get threatening letters lol

These notices rely totally on people's gullibility and they are not legally binding and they would never waste money going to court, especially when so may people still happily pay without question.
  • I know I sound gullable but Im just running a bit scared at the moment - i drafted a letter of appeal to send to them but not sure wether to send it off - i dont think I will because after reading a lot of the threads on here it seems to i ignore them is the best policy. thanks for reassurance

No. Don't send anything. They'll have to pay £2.50 to get the registered keeper's details, and it will cost them to write to you. Let them waste their money. Don't make it easy for them.

The "appeals" process is a total sham. It's done by the company itself, and it's in their interest to refuse all appeals. What you should do is to write to the supermarket telling them you will never darken their doorstep again until they get rid if these parasites.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I have emailed Morrisons and told them I will be shopping elsewhere in future and thanks for help

Take the advice as above don't be tempted to appeal, Give them no reason to contact you except through DVLA. Then file all correspondence under bin!
  • Cheers esmerobbo great advice !!

I personally would keep it, just in case. You'll probably get three or four letters - every-more scary looking, but don't be bullied.
