I use open office for spreadsheets & documents. Everything was fine till about 30 mins ago (I looked at a spreadsheet). Now openoffice won't open ! I click openoffice.org & nothing happens. I paniced and thought I'd lost everything - so went in via documents. Everything that should be there is listed, but again if I click on it, it doesn't open, or if I right click 'open' it doesn't. How can I fix it ??

Delete and redownload it?
Your documents will still be there as they will be saved separately. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
If you haven't tried re-booting then do so. If / when you have should it not resolve the issue then a system restore might be a good idea.

Re-booting solved it. Many thanks.0 -
Which operating system are you using? It could just be that the association between the filename's extension and Open Office is broken. I've switched to LibreOffice now, but at this early stage they are still essentially the same. I can't find an easy way in LibreOffice to repair the association and the method to re-establish it varies between operating systems.
If you're using Windows try loading Open Office from the Start menu and then loading the document from the File menu.
To correct the file associations you can:
- Windows 7 : http://defaultprogramseditor.com/
- Windows XP :
-- In the Control Panel open "Folder Options"
-- Click the "File Types" tab
-- If the file extension exists, edit it, otherwise create a new one. If you require more detail on how to do this I'd be happy to provide it.0 -

This is a problem I get. I'm hoping the new release will resolve the issue.0

If you're running under windows, go into Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) and look under Processes/Services for soffice or soffice.bin. Select it and End it.
It's the quick starter for Openoffice and it hangs occasionally.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
