Size of hand luggage

Due to travel by air mauritius next week. The hand luggage measurements should be 115cms including length, width and depth. Does anybody know how strict they are surely they are not going to measure it? The trolley bag measurements are within the 115 cms allowed but with the wheels they come to 119 cms. Shall I take the risk or change to a smaller bag. Only allows 7 kgs as well. Thanks

Are you complaining about a 7kg cabin bag allowance for a full service airline?

As to whether they will check and you will be forced to check the bag in? They may, or they may not, no-one can say.

I personally would email and ask them if you have time. I personally would expect the measurements to mean the whole bag, including wheels.

We were lucky, on BMI/Egyptair they just gave the bags a cursory glance, no weighing or anything, but I think that is a rarity, and they do have an 8kg allowance anyway!

If it looks on the limit, many airlines will make you put it in the frame to check hand luggage size either when you check in or are boarding. It sounds like it wouldn't fit with it's wheels so you'd be forced to check it in, when it will get weighed and you'll presumably be charged for excess baggage. I'd play safe and get a slightly smaller one. There's plenty around that advertise themselves as suitable for hand luggage and in our experience they usually are. Have travelled quite a bit on various airlines and never had the hand luggage weighed. I guess so long as you aren't obviously carrying a large load in a bulging hand carry, you'll get away with it not being weighed. Never flown Air Mauritius though so don't take my word for it!
