DLA claim

ive made a claim for dla. over 4 weeks ago

ive been out of work for a year ( not claiming ) due to my problems,

money has become very tight so i had to go to dwp for help, they suggested dla

i filled in forms etc and sent back, docs details, specialist, surgeons

got letter saying they need info from my doc

what i ask is this, which of the above will they contact for a report, as my own gp hasnt got the mri or specialist reports as yet on his file.

also how long does it take to get an anwser
also what are my chances of getting it.

ive been off for a year, had problem for 3 years, become worse over last year and am due for an op mid next year, and on loads of meds, cant walk properly, cant sleep, wash, get dressed with out help.

surgeon says itll be a year before im feeling better.

  • They usually contact your GP unless you have specified a consultant.

Consultants usually send updated letters to your GP anyway, so wouldnt worry too much. It may be worth seeing your GP and making sure they have copies of scans and updated letters etc.

Do you have care and mobility needs?

I think they wrote to my hospital consultant for evidence for my application. It took two months to get a decision which I think was partly due to waiting for a report from my consultant.
  • yes mrsmanda

i cannot walk with out help and support around me, also stick aided some days
cannot sit with out the need to move after 5-10 mins, this i need help with
showers i need help in and out and also with washing, baths i cannot do as im like a dead weight and my partner cannot get me out

toilet i need help on and off.

during the night i need to move also so partner has to do and assist in this.

so yes i have both needs. my doctor should know this but knowing my luck he wont state this, my specialist would say all the above plus more, surgeon would say well ( knackered ) is the easiest way to explain it.
