Unfortunatly, the site runs of the systems that the OR has in their offices, so it is likely that if one is not working then the ther probably isnt to

Thanks DI, we just emailed our local office for me, and RTLU for my hubby, that was august. Got a response next day, but if it is all linked that might not be an option at the moment for people.

One thing I noticed...OR staff do much prefer e-mails.....are more than happy to accept scanned documents on email too.....

maybe it's a modern thing, where people really don't like writing letters any more?

    [apart from DC's, that is]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

They need to get it sorted out as it is important for people's peace of mind

I think any concerns regarding 'peace of mind' result from personal attitudes, rather than legal requirements, or Service policies.....so we should perhaps be grateful for the 'quality' of staff remaining within the OR service?

Which leads me to observe [as a so-called 'public servant' of the uncivil kind]...that we are all now seeing the results of policies which we, as the great unwashed general public, have long clamoured to be done...the massive reduction in the numbers of Civil Servants......

It seems, nobody likes Civil Servants..nobody even knows what they do......everybody is under the impression of civil servants being as the media [especially the tub-thumping kind] would like us to be portrayed... Civil Servants inhibit us, especially when their interference prevents us from doing exactly as we please....?

So they should all be consigned to the scrap heap of unemployment.......so the government, ever with an eye on public popularity, oblige.....

of course, when we all come to wanting 'something done'......and cannot get it because the departments concerned are now severely understaffed...we all start clamouring...[HMRC is a case in point....staff levels have been cut drastically, due to public demand....now, when we want our tax sorting, it takes an absolute age..that...and the implementation of a computer system which is also suffering from underfunding....]..........

    ye reap what ye sow?

there, rant over...not anything aimed personally....but at our readership in general......

Personally, as a Civil Servant, I really do not give a tinker's cuss what Joe Public thinks of me...or if there is even a glimmer of understanding of what I do......Joe Public is far too self-centred to be concerned about me anyway....I look not for 'public support' when I have industrial issues.....my colleagues and I, fight for ourselves, and our fellow civil servants......regardless of the upheaval that may result.

No offense taken I think we all understand that the public service is harder hit then most, and that they can only do the job they are paid to do with the tolls provided. I know with our case it took ages to deal with things

  • I strongly feel that we should remember that people in these offices etc are PEOPLE and are JUST DOING A JOB. They are not personally responsible for the state of the system, and are probably just as frustrated as we are.

I say this as an NHS employee who is incredibly frustrated by the system within which I am forced to work. 'Service Users' ( as we must now call patients) screaming down the phone at me are not going to make the system change, they just get me stressed and less able to cope with all the stuff going on - home and work, which at some point will mean I have a couple of days off work to 'get my head straight' and there will be less people to deal with 'service users' - who become more frustrated and shout more.....and so on ad infinitum!!!

sorry, didn't mean that to turn into a rant :embarasse

Totally agree screaming at people changes nothing you are allowed to rant on here TPQ. I used to work on a helpline and used to get ranted at everyday it is not nice to be treated in such a way when you are only doing your job. Have a good day xx
