    Let me clarify :

Its about a child, not a relationship.

He vanished for no reason, other than to escape his responabilitys to provide for his offspring. It's nothing to do with relationships. If the child went into care or the mother was a mad-axe wielding murderer - all the above still apply's.

    It's called a moral duty.

As we keep telling you, tell your friend to contact the csa for financial contribution, moral responsibility is not law, did you know some women get pregant with a view to trapping a bloke, I am not for one minute suggesting your friend done such practice (and some blokes nag a woman to get pregnant with a view to trapping that woman to them) , she cannot make him have contact with the child, that is not what the csa or the forum is about.

She had a telephone conversation with the CSA yesterday and they proposed to email their debt dept to start the ball rolling with regards a reassessment .

You may have missed this some time back.

No, I had not missed it, the rest of your replies suggests you think somehow the guy is going to want to be involved with the child and the ex in someway other than monetary ways just because the csa are involved, christmas is coming and the pressure is on, the 1st reply to the orignal posting indicated to contact the csa, your friend has now done that now :j , you may have missed it earlier, good luck for your friend

No where in the OPs post does it suggest that the absent parent disappeared purely to escape his responsibilities, he may have not wished to continue the relationship.

For all we know the PWC may have been the town bike and he was just unfortunate, it may have been a one stand stand , there may be any number of reasons he disappeared. Did he actually want the child, has the PWC never heard of contraception?

Clearly this does not absolve him of responsibilities to support the child, however once again an individual is assigned a satanic role on pure supposition.

Finally ! Someone has grasped the concept.

He could have been the town rider !

!!!!!! ! Who gives a damn if he rode the whole bike shop and she wore out her tyres every two weeks !

It's all about the child, not about the parents

We all grasp the concept, no one has ever denied that, however it does seem your post is in the wrong forum and perhaps should be in the relationship section.
You are very concerned about the child, so why not become the father yourself?

I will quote your post in order to let people make their own mind up about your thought process .

How is that going determine my thought process?
You are concerned about the child that is what you have echoed in many of your replies during this thread, so why not adopt or become the guardian?
As said we all agree the NRP should contribute if they are in a financial position to do so, you did mention that the PWC was on benefits at the time when the nrp was contributing, so does that make her a bad person?
We don't know why the nrp 'vanished' I'm sure he has his reasons which will be valid & justified to him, yes folk can moan and whinge about it, but it won't change anything regarding prompt contribution via the csa. The payments have stopped and we don't know why, he could have been involved in an accident or worse for all we know.
