Freehold purchase, who's lawers deal with it?

Hi,
We are selling a freehold flat to Mr X which only has 67 years left on the lease.
The current freeholder of the flat wants to sell the freehold and is willing to sell to Mr X.
Our buyer, Mr X wants to purchase the freehold at the same time as purchasing the flat.
Our solicitor is adament that it is seperate to the flat sale so they should not be dealing with the freeholder solicitor, and Mr X's solicitors say that its all part and parcel of the sale so my solicitor should be.
We are going around in circles with a resolution getting no closer.
So my question is who's solicitor should be dealing with his, mine the seller of the flat or Mr X's the buyer of the flat and freehold?
Thanks.

Currently you are selling a leasehold flat with 67yrs on the lease. The purchase of the freehold is indeed seperate as it is 2 seperate sales. You get the money from the sale of the leasehold flat & the existing freeholder the monies for the sale of the freehold.
The legalities of the freehold purchase should be dealt with by the buyer's & the freeholder's solicitors.
Unless you are buying the freehold on behalf of your buyer, it has nothing to do with your solicitor. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Yes this seems right to me. It is a seperate matter - you could gain written agreement from your freeholder that he is willing to sell the freehold to Mr X for £X amount after completion - maybe then this can be transacted after the sale?0

To understand the difference between freehold and leasehold, check this site:

A leasehold flat and the freehold of a building are two separate properties.Trying to keep it simple...

hello - I'm desperate to ask a leaseholder question - but where do I find 'start a new thread' on the page? I'm only getting the option to post reply.
sorry for diverting from subject being discussed - but I'm getting really stressed out!0 -
To start new thread go first to the main page of the particular board you wish to post in, ie this particular one is called 'Housebuying, Renting, Selling & Property Prices', then on the top left hand side you will see the blue button for posting new thread. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
