Ryanair!!

Hiya,

On Tuesday my OH was involved in a motorbike accident, he's fine, had surgery and had nuts and bolts put into his arm.

Thing is, we're due to fly to Dublin on Monday 22nd- which we are now not doing as he's in far too much pain and I don't want to risk things going wrong. The surgery was only done yesterday.

Just phoned Ryanair to cancel it as I need proof of cancellation to make a claim on my travel insurance. The person I spoke with wouldn't even take the details so he could send a letter or email. He won't do anything till after Monday morning! Then they want to charge me £17 to do so, at this rate with the excess from the insurance, it's just not going to be worth it!

Argh!!

  • There is a reason why Ryanair is one of the "budget" airlines. You pay for a cheap service, you get a cheap service im afraid.

They charge for anything and everything they can, and if companies ever start charging for the air we breathe Ryanair will have been the pioneer LOL.

Come to think about it, planes are the perfect place to start a charge for air as there is hardly any at 35000ft so they could actually say "we are providing it" without lying... genius!!!!
  • I'm going to phone them again today and see if they will move the dates of the flights over. I'll pay the transfer fee happily.

The reason i'm doing all this is because of all the fee's and the excess I will be lucky to get £100 back from the travel insurance company.

    Pain in the rear end!

Just wait for the ....'you have agreed to the Ts and Cs brigade'

Especially PolishBigSpender who I actually think is the "irish !!!!" incognito..:rotfl:

Everyone to their own, and I know lots of people love Ryanair, as well as those who love EasyJet. Good luck to them..(cattle fodder)

And I wouldn't use either one again if you paid me!

A comment which of course will be replied to by the..'oh goody, more seats for me then' brigade
  • Well I phoned RyanAir and asked them if I can pay the £30 or whatever it is to move the flights to an alternative date, they agreed but only on the provision that I hadn't checked in. Alas, I had on Tuesday- the morning that OH came off his bike.

So I phoned lastminute.com who I booked the hotel through to see if they could move the dates, they couldn't. But despite the room being un-refundable the hotel apparently chose to refund rather than move the dates.

All in all, I have lost £100 which is what the excess would be on the travel insurance so not too bad really!!

I was just annoyed at RyanAir for not letting me cancel the flights and send a letter out asap, but rather I had to wait to be a "no show".

I've much more time for the likes of Ryanair and Easyjet than I do for so-called "proper" airlines who collude with each other to artificially forced prices upwards.
