Npower: strategic switching?

Hi
I'm an Npower customer currently getting my electricity on SOL17 and gas on Go Fix Gas (which is a fixed product which automatically ends 31/12/10).
I'm reviewing my situation and comparison sites still show Npower as clearly the best for me with my usage. I'm considering moving both electricity and gas to SOL20 which works out about the same +/- £10.
I'm thinking about doing this because when my Gas product ends, I'll probably go to some massively expensive tariff on 01/01/11. Whilst it will cost me £20 to leave Go Fix Gas early (even though it's just 1 month left), would we expect Npower to stratgically raise their prices before 01/01/11 not necessarily due to market conditions, but rather with the knowledge many fixed price products end at that time?
Now of course SOL20 doesn't offer any price hold guarantees anyway so it's not like they can't raise the prices on that should I switch tariffs. Therefore any point in switching now?
Any thoughts?
