House Assurance - Not fully covered?!

Hi, I am in the process of buying a new house and have been told by my life assurance supplier (a new one) that because I have had a microdiscectomy (a minor lower back operation to relieve pressure on what used to be refered to as a slipped disc), I will not be covered for any spinal injuries or sacroiliac joint injuries preveting me from working.
Thing is, my back is stronger than it ever was. Am I just not going to get this covered? Or can I pay more elsewhere? I'd rather be fully covered! If I were to break my neck falling down the stairs, what does that have to do with this op?!
I am slightly suspicious as my IFA stands to profit out of me taking this up, and I wonder if him telling me to take it may be motivated by cash! (as if!).
Any help would be much appreciated!

Speak to other IFA's and companies directly to see what might be available at extra cost.
I suspect that cover can be obtained, it is just whether you are willing to pay the amount required. There may be costs required in obtaining an up to date assessment of your back and to provide this to assist the Insurers to underwrite the risk.
In regard to back injuries, I suppose the argument is that your previous injury, could affect the severity of any future injury to the same area of the body.
Find another IFA using http://www.unbiased.co.uk/find-an-independent-financial-adviser/The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
