HELP: AVG won't let me uninstall it...

I downloaded AVG as i've used it before and trust it...However, it won't let me update it, and has been going slow. So, I thought I'll uninstall it, and to fresh install - it won't have any of this..it won't even let me do a repair on it!!! It keeps coming up with something about AVGIDS...
Any ideas??? Need help...:eek:

You're one lucky person! Use the avg removal tool for your OS: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools and install avast!

Thanks everyone for your advice ...but I'm going to have to wipe the hard drive and start afresh :mad:...The laptop just locks up now once XP has started, it just 'hangs', unresponsive, and unclickable - no matter how long I leave it, or what I do!!!:rotfl:
I don't think I'll bother with AVG again...:eek:

Does it run in safe mode?

Have you checked Task Manager?

Look to see if any AVG related processes are running, AVGIDS?, highlight and 'End Process', there will probably be more than one.

Vista? and Win 7 have a description column to help identify which procsss belong to which program.

Thanks everyone - I ended up just doing a complete fresh install of xp, and all the other 'bumph' I use...:j
To answer the what security did you use before question, my old computer had died, so had one on loan with Kaspersky, but I had previously used AVG on the other (I preferred it compared to Avira and Avast).
That's why my first port of call was to AVG (when my new secondhand laptop arrived), but I don't think I'll bother again, because of the shower of nonsense I had this time...

I meant that whatever security your 'new second hand laptop' had on may have affected AVG

Aaaah....***tink...and the lightbulb switches on:D***sorry I misunderstood what you meant. It's all up and running fine now with Avast installed now! :beer: Let the Google Whacking commence (I'm joking...)
