A few years ago out MIL bought us as a present one of those White Knight mini tumble dryers, it worked fine for nearly four years then it started making funny noises, hubby investigated but couldn't find what was causing it. A few days later we smelt smoke, stopped the dryer pulled the clothes out which were covered in sharp metal shards. We discovered that the metal protector covering the heating element had come off and that a sock was starting to burn on the heating element, also the metal shards were from the edge of the metal protector thingy.
We presumed this was exteme wear and tear (we have 3 kids so it's on loads) scrapped it and bought another tumble dryer of the same make second hand. This second hand dryer was new, unused and still in wrapping (the person we bought it off had been given it as a gift but had decided it was too small)
Less than a year later same funny noises started again, within a few days the metal shards appeared.
So we stopped using it but hubby decided to phone White Knight to inform them of what had happened with two of their tumble dryers as we realised it may be a design fault rather than being unlucky twice.
White Knight customer services have been excellent, they arranged to come and pick dryer up at no cost to ourselves and they have replaced our dryer free of charge even though we bought it second hand.
:T
Happily we haven't had to fork out again for a new dryer and we only phoned to inform them of the problem not expecting anything in return.
So if you're having problems with your White Knight dryer give them a call and you might be surprised
