Hi guys, I just heard about an apparent scam going round thought I would share to warn others.
A "delivery company" called PDS Parcel Delivery are posting cards through peoples doors saying they have tried to deliver a package, the card asks you to ring a number, which apparently if you do is a recorded message and charges you £315 to your phone bill.

Might I also suggest that whichever 'friend' sent it to you that you ask them not to spam your inbox with scare emails that are at least 4 years out of date as well as being incorrect:

These things have a habit of going round for ever. They are designed as a malicious email to frighten people.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There is however a scam related to courier companies, they send emails claiming they've tried to deliver a parcel and with an attachment for you to open. (had a few claiming they were from DHL)
Probably a virus.0 -

Apologies.
In hindsight I should have probably checked it out online before posting...MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Whenever you receive an email or text with the magic words "please circulate" or "please pass this on" then 99.9% of the time this is chain email warning against a non-existent scam or computer virus.
I thought you would like to see this, which should be passed on instead of the original email.:-
A STATEMENT FROM PHONEPAYPLUS ABOUT THE CURRENT 'POSTAL SCAM' CHAIN EMAIL
PhonepayPlus, the phone-paid services regulator, is aware that a chain e-mail about an alleged postal scam is being circulated on the internet. The email refers to the Royal Mail, Trading Standards and ICSTIS (PhonepayPlus' former name).
PhonepayPlus appreciates that recipients of the email may want to find out more information about the alleged scam and has therefore issued the following statement:
• The chain email refers to a service that was shut down by us in December 2005.
• We subsequently fined the company that was operating the service, Studio Telecom (based in Belize), £10,000.
• The service is NO LONGER running and has NOT been running since December 2005.
• The email refers to a £15 (or £315) charge for simply being connected to a recorded message.
This is NOT TRUE – a £15 (or £315) connection charge does NOT exist. The service in question actually cost £1.50 per minute and lasted six minutes, making a total cost of £9 if callers stayed on the line for the full six minutes.
• You do NOT need to contact us, or the Royal Mail, about this service as it was stopped almost five years ago.
• If you receive a copy of the email warning you about the alleged scam, please do NOT forward it to others. Instead, please forward this statement from PhonepayPlus.
• Please go to http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/pdfs_...sumerGuide.pdf for useful information about how to recognise phone-paid services and understand what they cost and some simple tips to help you enjoy using services with confidence.
• For more detailed information about our work, please visit https://www.phonepayplus.org.uk.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Whenever you get this type of email, cut and paste some of the relevent text into Google.
Parcel delivery e-mails, eg DHl/Fedex etc with supposedly pdf attachments are all viruses.
The problem is that people believe ANYTHING that comes by e-mail, it should be the reverse!.
Oh by the way, please pass this on to your friends... the moon is made of cheese !!!.0 -
Be aware of big fat bloke, red suit, long flowing white beard with a friendly bearing and a knack of winning over children with the promise of gifts (batteries not included). Known to travel by some kind of horse drawn vehicle or similar and to openly flout air traffic control regulations, especially around midnight on Dec 24th. Can often be heard goading the authorities with his call of "Ho! Ho! Ho!". If sighted do not approach.
Wanted in connection with aforementioned air traffic offences, breaking and entering to include criminal damage to numerous chimney stacks and fireplaces, operating a horse drawn vehicle whilst under the influence of Sherry.
Accomplice, identified only by his shiny nose, (And if you ever saw him, you would even swear it glows) wanted for questioning regarding fouling of rooftops. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
