Hi I'm using Thunderbird version 1.5.0.7 and am getting the error message "Sending of password did not succeed Mail server responded" when i click OK I get another message " An error occurredwith the pop3 mail server mail.xxxxxxxx.co.uk responded:"
If anyone could advise me as to what to try I'd be most grateful.

Thunderbird, ok firstly check the mail server setting you have are correct, then check your username and password are correct, and finally check you have allowed thunderbird access to the interent through your firewall.
Check the mail server is working and that you can connect to it using the ping command in a command prompt window,
click start, click run, type cmd and hit enter/return or ok
type ping mail.xxxxxxxx.co.uk and hopfully you will get a series of 4 replys similar to this ping to the server mail.btinternet.com
Pinging pop-smtp1-f.bt.mail.vip.ird.yahoo.com [217.1

if you get request timed out then ther server isnt there or doesnt exist so you have the server address wrong. let us know your mail hosts name or domain name or your ISP and I will try help find out the server address you need to enter, PM me the details if you dont want to post on the open board.

Thanks a lot, my problam is at work and I'm at home now so I will try it at some point over the weekend and let you know. I checked the passwords & usernames but as some emails were getting through I guessed the firewall was OK but maybe that is a problem as this problem has started since installing AVG and zone alarm (which I should have mentioned).
Sorry to be daft but exactly how do I check that both programs are OK with Tbird ?
