Just wondering if anyone has used Tesco Home Loft Insulation fitting service?
they quote £198 for supply and fitting on their website, although need to do a survey to advise before laying.

Is it just me that finds it odd why people consider Tesco for other things than groceries?

Unless it is easy to compare their service to a regular one, why even contemplate them? Yes, I have a Tesco bank savings account because their interest rate and means of access is better than those of "mainstream" banks.

But I would never consider Tesco kitchens, loft insulation service or anything else they are desperately trying to stick their brand to where there is an element of subjectivity in the work. This is because I know they stich up their suppliers which means, ultimately, there is a cost to the customer in terms of quality for that "bargain" kitchen, or whatever the service they are supplying is.

I can't imagine that Tesco do any of these services themselves. Surely, all they do is to farm it out to a subbie and sit back and wait for their share of the profits.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

My point exactly. And the subbie will have to cut corners to make sure he still makes money. In these circumstances, having the "Tesco" brand does the customer no favours.

Far better to leave out the middle man and get a decent job done.

Start with a quote from your energy supplier(s), as these are subsidised.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Not used them myself, but id recommend getting several quotes from local fitters first to see how they compare.

Ive just insulated my loft and it cost me about 150quid just for all the insulation. That was with "buy 1 get 2 free" deal and after making sure i had the cheapest price from all the main suppliers.

It was a horrible job to do, messy, dirty, dusty and I certainly wouldnt recommend doing it yourself! So, if you can get £200 all in fitted then thats not bad.

    Why don't Tesco's just F""" Off
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • I doubled my loft insulation the last time B&Q were doing £1 a roll. I think it cost me £12 in total.

I'm impressed by the sole fact they can quote a price before seeing the job, although I'm sure the get out will be the "survey" before the job starts.

SHouldn't be more than £150 for an average house. Get a quote from a local company-they all pretty much have subsidies from the energy companies allowing them to do it for this price.
Wouldn't touch Tesco with a bargepole-can't stand this supersize company getting their fingers in all the pies and screwing everyone else to the wall in the process. How many companies have they put out of business either by unfair competition or by contracting them and forcing them into unsubstainable deals.
Quite agree with Phill99 and Innys!
