My home key's fubar'd :)

I *know* I should have unplugged the keyboard before I cleaned it last night...I was impaitient!

I suspect I may have accidentally pressed one of the arcane Windows-top-secret-key-combos whilst wiping the keyboard down because now my "Home" and "End" keys aren't working.

Once I have clicked on a page, I expect (and it always to used to happen) that pressing "Home" will take me back to the top of the page and "End" to the bottom.

After the cleaning operation, when I press "Home" I get taken to about the middle of the page and I have to "Page Up" to get to the top. Bloomin' inconvenient when you're used to the shortcuts...

I had a quick scoot through the Microsoft help area, but couldn't find how to reset the keys. Can anyone help?

have you maybe hit the scroll lock key?

Edit: Could be next the Print Screen key on top row.

Can you provide the make and model of the keyboard, so that we can better understand what we're dealing with, i.e. whether there are some non-standard buttons/keys?

Also, how are the home and end keys now functioning elsewhere, e.g. in a text file, or new email? Normally they should take the cursor to the beginning (home) and end of a line.

It's not the Scroll Lock - I get a indication when that's pressed - but thank you!

It's an ACER KB-0759.

The Home and End keys do exactly what you describe within text - so if I click on your post, the Home key takes me to the start of the line of text. I don't think they did that previously - I used them as browsing shortcuts.

Before I cleaned the keyboard last night, the Home and End keys wre a useful shortcut when browsing web pages. Pressing Home would take me to the top of a web page and pressing End would take me to the bottom. Now this isn't working.

Page Up and Page Dn are still doing what they should.

oh, another thing ... which browser are you using?
If Firefox, then F7 is probably the issue.

Yes - I'm on Firefox - I'll investigate the F7 thing.

ETA : It works! I found a tickbox that needed unticking!
