Changing, direct debit question

Quick question. Do you have to give your direct debit details ove rthe internet when you sign up to a new supplier via comparrison or cash back sites? Thank you.

They are not given to the comparison site but the supplier you choose will expect you to provide the information once you are through to their secure registration site. Of course, if you want to register for cashback they will often want your details separately.
It must be nice to be so rich that you have to worry about not being able to keep track of all the transactions on your bank accounts0 -

I'd far rather give my bank account details over a secure internet connection than over the phone to some anonymous call centre, or even on a form through the post.
Do you ever write cheques? If so, every time you do so you are giving away your account no, sort code and signature.
No-one can access your account from this info, unless they want to pay in to your account.
And as a final defence there's always the banks' DD guarantee scheme anyway.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
