Scraping noise in car, worse when turning - any ideas?

Today I was driving my Vauxhall Corsa and it started making a scraping sound. It sounded just like I was dragging something along on the road and seemed to come from the front of the car. It was worse when I turned corners and fairly loud. Anyway, it made this noise until I parked up. I checked under the car, tyres etc but nothing looked amis. When I got back in the car an hour later the noise had gone and its been ok since.

Any suggestions? Should I take it to be checked even tho its stopped?

thanks

Could have been a piece of trim from a wheel arch that has now fallen off. Was it any different under braking?
  • I don't think it was different whilst braking. Turning was definately the worst. Do you think I should take it to a tyre place to get it checked out or my local garage?

    thanks

Maybe a stone in the wheel mechanism. and its worked its way out.
Happened to me once, cost me a fortune at the garage for someone to look at it.
(i still have the stone :D:rotfl::rotfl:)

If its not happening now I would tend to ignore it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Check your steering wheel fluid, the garage didn't put the cover on mine properly, anyway as soon as I put some in it stopped the scraping noise.
  • Wheel bearing, brake pads, damaged trim, damaged exhaust,

    So many possible explanations.

Given that it's stopped now, I wouldn't deem it that serious. Anything else tends not to just disappear.
