Do you pay for Conveyancing costs if you work for a Solicitor?

    Its pretty simple, if it's written into your contract of employment you get it for free then wave it in their face. If it's not, you either accept their discount and keep it all close to you, or you go on the open market and pay more and chase everything over the phone like everyone else.

    What happens in other similar firms is irrelevent, sorry! :(
  • Its not in my Contract but the point I am trying to make that it is not in other members of staff Contracts either but they've had free conveyancing - think I'll ask them to do it but take the legal fees (not disbursements) out of my wages at £5 a week!

    Hi, I know how you feel. The London law firm I have worked in for 24 years stopped doing staff conveyancing about 15 years ago, fortunately for me just after I had mine done for free (just paid for disbursements). I don't any of the London law firms that now offer free staff conveyancing or to be honest, any type of free legal advice although naturally they do for the partners and their friends !!! I agree with others that £300 is a pretty good amount to pay for conveyancing that at least you can keep your eye on.
