Grants and or Benefits help please

I am 24 and I have been on Employment support allowance and DLA for 18 months however the DWP have reassessed my claim and deemed me capable of working, however this is not the case and I am appealing with the help of Welfare Rights and my GP.

I have been getting £92 per week ESA and £38 DLA per week and due to the decision from the DWP my income is now just £51.85 per week and my appeal is unlikely to be heard before March, I have cancelled TV and phone line in order to save money - but I am struggling so hard.

Can anyone tell me if I can find help from Charities or if there is anything else I can claim in the mean time. I am very worried about the winter fuel bill too....

Thanks for any help in advance it is very much appreciated
If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

Why has your DLA stopped, it shouldn't have done.
  • The DLA was awarded for 2 years and it ran out, when I was contacted to reapply, the welfare rights people filled it all out as they did the last time, but the DLA decided that I am not eligible even though nothing has changed.

The welfare rights people said they are dealing with hundreds of these cases lately, they estimated that 70% of their renewable DLA applications have been refused. The same with the ESA, they saying its the government seeing if you appeal or whether the p*ss takers will just sign on.

Needless to say I have been caught in the middle and due to the amount of people appealing mine won't be heard until March at the earliest.

    Aren't you claiming HB/LHA/CTB?
  • Yes I have sorted HB and CTB... But I am having to live on £200 per month and it is very hard as my household bills are £123. So I have only £77 per month for food/clothing/shoes/christmas/bus fares etc..

You need to post a statement of affairs (SOA) on the debt free wannabe board. You may want to also look at the utilities board and old style.

That's the same amount that any unemployed young person would receive. It would seem as if you need to cut back, particularly as you may not win your appeal.
