Just wanted to know what I'm doing wrong!
Just got my renewal through from Shelias Wheels. £1427 - last year £360 :eek::eek:
I have 8 yrs protected no claims and claimed this year as some annoying person ploughed through the side of my car and didn't leave details.
So I gocompare it, cheapest is £407 motorquote direct
confused.com £368 with tesco
go to tesco directly and its £318
And then do tesco compare and the same tesco insurance is £278
Does not compute. All details I've input are the same. Insurance offered is the same.
I feel like I'm missing something...can anyone think of something I've missed?

If you start looking for logic in the unregulated part of the insurance world you’ll go mad.
Just go for the cheapest
don't forget cashback/nectar points either0 -
If you are declaring your claim properly (ie at fault/unidentified third party damage), then it just looks like Sheila has gone off you and is just pricing you out!
The other variations you are seeing are the normal swings you see. Sometimes the same details get quoted differently on the same day from the same company.0 -
I bet you're on auto renew with sheila's wheels, and they're hoping you don't spot it.
How much is it if you put in a nearby address and ficticious name, with the same details?0 -

OP ring them up now and say you don't want auto-renew and get the name of the person you spoke to. Then immediately write a letter and post it by recorded delivery to them saying you spoke to xx on xx date stating you don't want auto-renew.
The recorded delivery is just because they will highly likely state they didn't receive your letter which they will suddenly "find" when you point out it was sent recorded delivery. How much is it if you put in a nearby address and ficticious name, with the same details?
If you going to do that please ensure you check that you tick or untick the box stating you don't want any correspondence being sent to your address. One of my idiot neighbours did it and forgot to uncheck that box so I get his post in his fictitious name.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

An unusually high premium that is out of the typical range of others is typically an insurance company telling you that you are not wanted by them any more. Not enough to refuse but enough to put you off from using them.ou going to do that please ensure you check that you tick or untick the box stating you don't want any correspondence being sent to your address. It can also damage your electronic money laundering ID checks as well as incorrect data can get loaded against that address.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I thought I was doing something wrong- but if Shelia doesn't want my custom, that's fine.
I pay in full each year, so no need to write and cancel.
No cashback with tesco insurance, but that's fine as their price is the best for the cover I want.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

So do I.
They all try to autorenew though.0 -
what they?
The money laundering ID check uses the data on applications etc. A number of the quote portals do credit checks when you do your quotes. So, if incorrect data is input, that can be recorded on the file and create inconsistencies. The ID system also looks out of identity theft as well.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
