Further to my CSA1 to CSA2 thread (no forms in the post yet!)..
I assume they will want to back date this claim. If so, when would they backdate to. Is it when the PWC made the call or when I get the forms? - Any ideas.
What would happen if you were self employed? Would they want an SA203 for 2009/10?
As it will be CSA2 I'm assuming they will just want to know about me, my new baby and not about my wife and mortgage? Would it be worth pointing out that only a few months ago they calculated a £0 assesment, or is that a waste of time?
Thanks.
Mikee

Only going on my experience -
A CSA2 case starts when CSA send you forms to a confirmed address or more likely - call you in person.
They will want to know your income only. As you have a child, they will take 15% off your income when working out your maintenance payment. However, they will also take into account any tax credits (wtc and ctc) that you may receive for your new family and they will add this to your income. If you are the main earner in your family, they will include ALL of your wtc and all your ctc.
They will also take off a percentage if you have your child overnight for a minimum of 52 nights a year.
My partner is self-employed - he hasn't worked a full year so they wanted the last 3 months worth of accounts. I presume, however, that you can give this year's SA as proof of earnings.
They won't take any of your outgoings into account, nor a previous assessment amount.
Hope this helps!0 -
do your maths before you tell them about having another child.
you get a 15% reduction for it, but if you recieve wtc and ctc then it could work out worse if you tell them.NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.
and, please. only thank when appropriate. not to boost idiots egos.0 -
They can use any SA203 within 24 months prior to the date they send you the forms (it's the date on the letter, not the date it falls through the letterbox) or they call you. So you could use the 2008/2009 one. That's because, theoretically you don't have to submit your 2009/2010 one until January 2011.0

Just a note about not telling them about WTC and CTC - a friend of mine got stung with a £1,000 fine for not telling them about this income. He then also had to pay back arrears when they finally found out.0

It was mentioned they take into account wtc and ctc. These are both paid to my wife so does it still count?
Are we back to the "Does the CSA legally need to know about my partners details!"
Surley the wtc and ctc is to help me and my wife while she is on maternaty leave, not the PWC. The PWC will no doubt be getting her own wtc and ctc, especially as she has 3 other children with her husband!0 -
They chop and change to suit their self. I think it is disregarded up to the first £15
They didn't take out wftc into account although it was only £13 per week when my wife was on maternity.0 -

It doesn't matter whose bank account the money is paid into, if you are living together it is (should be) a joint claim so they class it as the NRPs income.
All CTC are used as NRPs income. All WTC if the NRP earns more than their partner, half if they earn the same or none if the NRP earns less than his partner.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
SHOCKING! - Another letter to my MP on its way.
CTC is for the child I have with my wife!
The PWC will already claim CTC for my 1st child.0 -
I can understand why this might seem unfair, but what happens when the wpc doesn't receive any TC but gets a 25% discount because of children in the nrp household.
I am about to move in with my partner and will be entitled to no CTC at all. I don't expect my partner to support my children financially, it is not for him to do (even if he doesn't see it like this). My ex lives with his partner who has two children from a previous relationship and has one on the way. I can respect that my children receive less because of the child they will have together (after all children in 'normal' family have to learn to do less when a siblings comes along), but I don't see why they should have to do with less because their step-mother has children. She and her ex should be supporting their children, not my ex.
I think disregarding the rule of taking ctc as income is only fair if the discount only applies to the children of the nrp, not the nrpp.0 -
The child living with me is mine (NRP) and my wifes.0
