Ipod screen damage, but it's brand new?

I bought my daughter an Ipod Nano, which we received yesterday. Not one of the new little ones, the one before that.
Charged it up this morning on my DAB radio as it has a dock, to make sure everything was working as it should be, and come to the end of the 3 hour charge, there is a mark right in the centre of the screen, about an inch long which looks like what you'd get if you pressed an LCD screen or calculator.
Does anyone know what this is please?? I can see it whether the ipod is turned on or off. It's less visable when it's on though.

Don't even bother trying to figure it out - return it for a replacement.0

I just wondered what it was and what could have caused it. Was fine when we took it out of the packaging yesterday, but after being charged, it's got the mark in/under the screen.

The advice given above is the best, I think....as they like the area, just ignore the nasty man until they can move on.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Take it back to the shop and get another one.0

Take it back to the shop and get another one.
And if it does the same thing or is a known problem?
That's why I posted on this board to see if anyone knew what it was, rather than on a consumers board to see if I could take it back or not as I know I can.
What's the point in getting another one if it's going to do the same?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I know what you mean about the mark on the screen and no
its not a known problem. It could have been caused by the charge on the DAB radio but thats doubtful. It seems like this is an isolated case and I would take it back.Dont let it put you off getting a replacement as I can not see it happening again unless you are dealing with a dodgy seller:(.
Good Luck:)No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0 -

I've been googling and have read loads of things, from 'rainbow marks' to how I explained it like when you press a calculator or LCD screen but the explanations are different.
Someone said it happened to theirs when they came off a flight and someone else said it can be due to the temp, which could be what it was as the DAB radio is in the kitchen, although not near anything hot.
Anyway, the mark has shrunk considerably, so OH seems to think it could have been something like condensation?
Daughter is OK with it anyway so we are going to keep it as they can't be bought anymore unless we want to pay over £200!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
