Same problem, 2 different ways of dealing with it.

I have CCs with both of the above and, being of a forgetful disposition, I pay both payments on the day I get paid (6th) in case I forget to do it in time for the payment date towards the end of the month. (I don't do it by DD as the amount varies as I'm trying to pay as much as possible off of the Santander one which isn't 0%.)

This has worked fine for the last year but last month, I'm not sure whether it was because they sent out statements early or I was paid earlier than usual if 6th fell on a weekend) both allocated last months payment as a second payment for the month before and billed me £12 as a missed payment for last month.

I called Virgin last night who said, 'I can see exactly what's happened, your payment arrived before the statement went out, I'll refund that, Oh, that's tripped an end to your 0% deal so I'll just reinstate that, there, I've repaid the interest that was mistakenly taken' Sorted.

Not so with Santander.

Firstly I got put through to an overseas call centre  whereupon no matter how many times and in how many ways I tried to explain to the person that answered she failed to understand and just kept insisting that I had paid late. No matter how many times I explained that I PAID 3 WEEKS EARLY she just kept repeating that the payment was due on 1st and I'd paid on 6th therefore I was late. (Despite the payment due on 1st having been paid 3 weeks previously as it has been done for the last year with no problems.)

In the end I asked to be put though to her supervisor and was left in limbo so I eventually hung up and am now waiting (and have been for the last couple of hours) for a call back to arrange an appointment to go in on Saturday morning to explain the situation to a 'real' person.

So well done, Santander, solely based on my experience with this employee I have this morning applied for (and been given) another 0% card and will be moving the balance outstanding on your card the minute it arrives so wave goodbye to the next few months interest :T
