Ebay name change -- now starting to sell

As I am not thinking of selling some items (only have bought before) and therefore changing my username.
When I first joined, never really gave much thought to the username I selected.
Do you think it would look dodgy if I change the name now? I understand that my feedback follows me and there is an icon that shows there has been a recent name change.
Any thoughts?

Logically, it shouldn't make any difference.
So long as your feedback is intact there's no reason to suppose you're doing anything underhand.0 -
I've changed mine twice, so that I had more appropriate names.
You can't change your feedback so I've never considered it anything sinister. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I look at product, price and feedback... can't say anyone's name has made me more or less likely to buyAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

I have to say I've seen some offputting names, anything with the words scammer, !!!!!! etc. makes you kind of wonder why they'd call themselves that...My TV is broken!

for the replies everyone.
I will give it some thought as I feel a new name is in order.
I am going to try and download turbo lister tonight, with the view of listing things over the weekend and upload them sunday evening so that they finish the following sunday evening.
Really scared about paypal, so I think I may leave that off. I know I am probably shooting myself in the foot, but I have concerns about it and don't feel very comfortable with it.0 -

In my experience people with those names aren't likely to be selling the stuff I want to buy , OR not have a reasonable feedback rating anywayAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
That's something you need to think very carefully about.beccaoz wrote:Really scared about paypal, so I think I may leave that off. I know I am probably shooting myself in the foot, but I have concerns about it and don't feel very comfortable with it.
If there are few competitors for what you are selling it might not be too much of a problem.
If there are a lot, and they all take pp, then people are likely to ignore your listings for the conveience of PP.
When worrying about PP, you need to consider how many transactions you expect to perform.
If it's just a few, then you would have a real problem if pp reversed a payment or two.
If, on the other hand you sell a lot, then you just need to factor into your selling costs the effect of a small percentage of chargebacks.
e.g. Suppose the probability is that PP reverse 2 transactions in 100.
If you sell 10 items at £500 each, and are unlucky and get a pp reversal, that's £500 in one chunk and 10% of your revenue. Very bad news
On the other hand, if you sell 1000 items at £5 each, and PP reverse 20, it's £100 but over the course of a year, and only 2% of your revenue. Not so serious.
Balance that against the loss of revenue through not accepting paypal.0 -
I am going to be selling just bits and pieces that i have been given and don't use or freebies or things that i pick up from charity shops.
I thought I might start off without PP and see how I get on.
I am really nervous about starting because I read the forums on here and also the ebay forums and they have lots of bad news stories. But then when you do balance it out with the amount of transcations that much take place on a daily basis, then its not so bad i guess.0
