thanks for the info. I'll be looking at another focus, 60,000, 1.6. 2001

    1. is there any difference between ghia and zetec suspension? i cudnt find any info on this.

    2. how much do you think a focus timing belt will cost? if i have to replace it every 10 years - then that's next year.

    1) An incredible difference. The Ghia and LX suspension is softer than the Zetec so if you want mental cornering speed handling, go for the Zetec.

    2) Done properly, under £200. Be wary of any under £150.

The trick with the Focus is to get one which is not silly money. I found most the ten year old ones were around £2k which was just silly money.

I ended up with something very different to the ten year old Focus, a brand new Panda.

Exactly, the car is still 10-11 years old and if I was buying a car of that age I would be looking for something a lot cheaper.

If I had that sort of money to spend I would be looking for something a lot younger.

Savamoney I'm sure your car is grt and you have looked after it, but unless I knew you and your car I would not be interested in it unless the price was rock bottom. If I did know he car I might be quite willing to pay up a bit for it.

Stigy the fact that the car has only 60k miles on it is probably a slight negative, but at the end of the day the car is 3 years older than it's design life (sure it go go for another 10 years without much of a problem). Yes at the right price it could be worth buying.

I've rarely had full service histories for any car I've owned, other than the ex-police V6! Wouldn't consider it a major factor, I'd prefer to look myself and see the condition of the car/ engine.

60k is quite low for that age of a car. At a good price, I'd consider most cars.

Not a bad idea to bring a mechanic friend along to look at it with you, if you've any concerns get them to take a look.
