Wheres best to buy a business computer

Options
I need to buy another PC for my little business, i recently purchased one from PC world but as it was a home edition i couldn't network it so had to upgrade so i could network.

Is there anywhere better/cheaper to buy a PC from than PC World?

Looking at the PC world business it is far more expensive for just the PC than it cost me to buy the PC, monitor, keyboard etc

Any advice welcome

Thanks,
Emma

Sorry, I don't follow this at all - do you mean it had the 'Home Edition' of the operating system? This wouldn't be a reason for it 'not to network' - the absence of a network card might, though....

Good grief, yes. Buy a few computer magazines, look through the classifieds, search online for mail order, etc. etc.

Ah thanks Googler, i was told at PC world of all places that if it is home edition you cannot use it on a network you have to buy the business edition.

    You were told 50% wrong.

You CAN network on the Home Edition if its to a Homegroup or Workgroup. What the Home Edition cannot do is join a domain (Windows or Unix/Linux) and you need Business and up for that.

Yes, given PC world are just about the worst place you can go to buy a PC for business or otherwise just about anywhere else you go will prove better.

The duff information they provided about networking is about typical of the service you can expect (actually thats probably them on a good day).

you could do alot worse than looking at a bog standard dell aimed at home office or small business use (ie any mid range machine as you won't need any of the shiny consumer fluff like gaming graphics cards or Bluray drives).

Be sure to have a good backup procedure and anti virus in place for all machines :)

I would second Dell... I've bought all my business machines from there in the past.

Just a little update after speaking to the guy who comes to do our PCs, its not just the network but its asking the PC to get everything through the server that the home editions have problems with if that makes sense?
