Cash in company pension?

Does that cover older posters too, or can bendy continue to treat everyone else as morons as long as he is warm and cuddly to the newbie's who are too stupid to know what a pension is
Ummmmm point of order.
I don't treat everyone - newbies or older posters - as morons. I treat those I consider to be morons as morons because, well . . ummm . they're morons.
It's a subtle distinction, but one worth making.
I thank you for your attention.0 -

Now now, you should know there's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.;)
I'm not arguing with any comments about surrendering a pension, I understand and support everything that has been said. What I despise is the way several "self appointed experts" think they have an unchallengeable right to insult any poster for asking a question which they decide labels the poster as stupid, or one that they may have answered many times before.
Bendix asks why would someone not return after being the subject of one of his outbursts??
And why do people not ask at work or the pension company??
Well 1) just maybe they are embarrassed by their ignorance of pension matters and find the anonimity of the net less daunting.
and 2) many have an inherant distrust of their pension company and even their employer and feel they will get a more independant view here.
They didn't come on asking for both barrels in the face:eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

So if we accept this forum is anonymous, why - I ask again - should they feel they can't return after a first question?0 -

And I'll tell you again, because they neither expected and even less asked for or wanted a reply such as yours, you simply assumed they deserved it.:wall::wall::wall:
I don't care if you are not amused by these questions, but by your own admission you are here to help, then help, if here to condem then make it clear.
If your child was in school and asked a simple question that most knew the answer to, would you want them to be humiliated in front of the class by the teacher or would you expect a little understanding?? Don't bother to answer.
If you set yourself up as a teacher or someone in a position of knowledge then at least have some courtesy and respect for those that you aree preaching to:mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

your pension plan small print has all the answers.
im not in mine, even tho its a clearly explained pension, id rather trust myself at point of cash in hand than a pension which at a random date in the future, lets say 2021, becomes worthless...
wait for the statutory 2nd pension coming in 2012.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -

Excellently articulated point Dave. But could you please elaborate why "a pension at a randam date in the future, lets say 2021, becomes worthless."
Is there something us normal pension people haven't taken into account - like some hidden small print item in invisible ink which stipulates that all pensions disappear into thin air in 2021, or are you expecting earth to be destroyed by a rogue asteroid around that time. If you now something, I think you should tell us.

If those innocents are horrified by my robustness in this, so be it. Tough love never hurt anyone. It's precisely all this 'there there, it's not your fault you don't know, its the evil banks' attitude around today might make us all feel a bit nicer inside, but it's counter productive.
We all know just how naive people can be but just pointing out that people are stupid and lazy isn't robust it's just rude. I find your posts really quite depressing as you seem to point out the problems but don't offer any positive ideas to combat the dire state of the general populations knowledge of financial matters.
How would you solve the obesity problem? Stand in ASDA calling people fat, greedy b*****ds?0
