VENT: Tesco Clubcard Voucher Exchange

I'm slightly annoyed about the information in the Tesco Clubcard Voucher Exchange leaflet which is misleading (imho)

The leaflet states you can exchange £10 for £20 on FINEST wines and champagnes.

The exclusions states "beers, ciders, spirits, alcopops, fortified wines, hampers and gift packs".

It makes no mention whatsoever that you cannot use the exchange voucher to purchase ordinary Tesco wines or other brand wines.

OK, what you are allowed to purchase (FINEST products) may be implicit on the leaflet but it's certainly not explicit as it should be.

I'm not sure I follow you. You state that "

but then say "OK, what you are allowed to purchase (FINEST products) may be implicit on the leaflet but it's certainly not explicit as it should be" . So you say it is shown clearly on the leaflet but argue against yourslef by saying it isn't.

What I'm saying is that they should have put something like "ordinary Tesco wines or other brand wines" in the 'Exclusions' along with beers, ciders etc - as THEY are also excluded - but are not mentioned at all on the leaflet.

But ordinary ones aren't FINEST ones, so by definition they are excluded ?

I think OP would expect it to include in the excluded list the words, non FINEST wines.

    Exactly fozmcfc! :T

If Tesco are putting a list of exclusions, they should INCLUDE what is a very large part of their liquor sales - Tesco NON-finest wines and ALL non-Tesco brand wines.

As I said, it's IMPLICIT on the leaflet that only Tesco Finest wines are INCLUDED in the offer but if they are going to go to the trouble to put exclusions in, that list should be EXPLICIT.

If they had just put what was included in the voucher offer (Tesco Finest wines and Tesco Finest champagnes) and not mentioned what was excluded I wouldn't consider it misleading.

I think you are missing something. It says its off FINEST wines, it then lists FINEST products which are excluded. Therefore there is no need to say that ordinary wines are not included. Just as there is no need to say that Blue Nun isn't included.

By that reason, so are alcopops, ciders and beers, but they are mentioned. So, I DO see that the OP is getting at. But it was clear to me that it was only Finest wines. I just don't see why they needed to exclude other things that clearly are not "Finest wines".

No, it is explicit that tesco finest wines are included in the offer because it is stated on the leaflet.

It is implicit that other non 'tesco finest wines' are excluded because this is not mentioned in the exclusions. You have to imply it.

It doesn't list FINEST products which are excluded.
It lists products which are INCLUDED (i.e Finest Wine & Finest champagne), then lists SOME products (but not all) that are EXCLUDED.

My issue is that it doesn't list the majority of liquor products that Tesco sell that ARE excluded i.e ordinary Tesco wine and non branded wine.

Blue Nun is a specific type of wine - which is not branded by Tesco.
I wouldn't expect Tesco to specifically name Blue Nun as excluded - just as I wouldn't expect them to specify Hardy's Crest or Jacob's Creek.

BUT, I would expect them to exclude ALL non Tesco brand wine and ALL Tesco non-Finest wine - if they are going to the extent of excluding alcopops, spirits, beers and ciders.
