IVA & Tax Credits

Options
Hiya

Been in an IVA with Payplan since May 2010 and the Tax Credits office have confused the hell out of me, wondered if anyone could offer any advice?

I've had a new award come through out of the blue, saying that our payments were going up but that we'd been overpaid (although they can't tell me what period the overpayments are from?) and said that "due to our IVA" the Tax credit IVA dept are reviewing our payments?

What the hell is that about? Is this the norm?
We're completely confused- if our payments got really messed up then we wouldn't be able to pay the IVA!

Thanks

From personal experience, speak with the tax credits office about how much you owe and if you can repay at a minimal amount (i.e. mine was £20 a month but I have known people to get it down to £10).

Therefore you will still get your tax credits paid and be repaying with whatever you've arranged. Explain to them you are in an IVA and its all you can afford as all available expenditure is accounted for.

Now IVA is finished I'm now repaying the tax credits at a higher rate to get rid of it.

The thing thats confusing me though, is that one person said that the overpayment is covered by the IVA as it was from before the IVA was approved but then another person said they didn't know what period the overpayment was from!

    Aarrggghhhhh

any other pearls of wisdom from anyone?
  • Mine didn't arise until I was in the IVA, I spoke with my IP who then included the £20 into the allowable expenditure. I think its classed as a crown recovery which cannot be written off within an IVA.

Nope should be included in IVA I think as just another debt... I'll check that out tho!
