Correct way to restore iTunes backup after OS reinstall?

Can anyone tell me the correct way to restore my iTunes backup after Windows has been reinstalled?

Should I just restore it to the normal location then open iTunes for the first time?

Or should I use the instructions in the following link which would, I presume, require I open iTunes for the first time.
Then close iTunes and replace the empty iTunes folder it created with my backup.
Then open iTunes again with the shift key pressed and select "choose folder" to choose my iTunes backup?

iTunes has just updated since I made the backup so my backup is one version out of step, if that makes any difference.

Many thanks for any replies. :)

Your better reinstalling a program after reinstalling nay windows. So it works properly i.e add to reg edit and any files required to link with system and system 32 files.

What has that got to do with the question oh regular provider of duff information?

OP - I have done it many times before as described in the link you gave - running iTunes with the Shift key (because I use Windows) held down the first time I run it after a reinstall.
