Account was opened 10th November
Phone call made on 18th and they said a letter would need to be done addressed to Customer Relations.
I wrote a letter to them on the same day, send recorded delivery on the 19th so everything has been done within the 14 days
Will see what they say, if its still a NO I will try and throw the Distance Selling thing someone has said
Thanks for all the advice

Sorry to have raised your hopes. I referred to the Distance Marketing regulations because I saw references to them in some accounts' Ts&Cs. I have since come across several examples of Ts&Cs for fixed-term accounts stating that there is no cooling-off period. Today I opened a Nationwide fixed-term account by phone and was warned that there would be no cooling-off period.0
