Hi all
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I have done a couple of searches and not found the answer yet, so excuse me if this has been covered.
We're currently on BG Websaver 4 which will end on 10th December - if we do nothing we'd be shunted on to BG standard tariff. However we've already been on this for over 12 months, we're well outside the penalty period and free to switch now.
Having done a couple of comparison sites I am leaning towards EDF Online Saver 7 which would provide a saving of around £60 plus the £100 new customer bonus plus £80ish cashback through TCB or Quidco.
My question is this:
- the £100 new customer bonus is for those who switch by 30th Nov (extract from EDF website below)
- if I sign up, tomorrow, say (18 Nov) will I get this no matter how long the switch takes? What if BG mess about for 2 months? Is it the signup date which matters? It's the bit I have highlighted in bold below that I don't like the sound of......
+ EDF Energy's £100 Welcome Bonus offer is subject to the customer signing up to the Online S@ver Version 7 Tariff via https://www.savetodaysavetomorrow.com by 30 November 2010 and the customer's account(s) going live on supply
Any insights gratefully received!

I asked that on here a couple of weeks ago and the advice given was that it's the day you sign up that is important so signing up now is fine.0

Thanks t0rt0ise - I hope that's right, because the £100 thing does make a BIG difference, if I don't get that then a different deal may be better for us. I need to get on and switch ASAP though. Cheers.0

Yes its from day you sign up.
Spoke to them on webchat yesterday. I believe it can take a couple of months though to finally switch.
They said the £100 will be paid into your accounts within 90 days so it should be a lot quicker than 90 days.0 -

Thanks stulaunch...I did hunt around for tortoise's original thread and the advice given on there seemed a bit uncertain - in the end I thought well, may as well go for it as there isn't anything else coming up for us which beats it by loads, even if the £100 bonus doesn't work. So I've just applied now via Topcashback site. Thanks for your feedback though which makes me feel more hopeful!
Now to see whether it's as much of a nightmare as switching to BG (from another BG tariff) was last year...0
