A&L DirectSaver showing as OnlineSaver Issue 2

Opened my new 5.38% DirectSaver with a&l a week ago and it has just shown on the list of my internet accounts today. Only trouble is it is called Online Saver Issue 2:eek: It still has the same account number they gave me in the letter sent to me telling me that my new directsaver account was up and running.
Now, my question is - how do I know that I am getting the 5.38% directsaver
rate? Or are they paying me the measley online saver issue 2 rate which I think is now paying me below 4%?
Do I really have to ring the blasted 0870 number to ask the question?
Hope I am making sense. Has anyone else has this problem?

It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)

yorkshireboy,
no luck with that number. got through to mbna, something to do with a&l credit card services:mad:It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. On my A&L online account it shows correctly as DirectSaver, so I guess it is worth calling them. There was and probably still is an online messaging feature on the online managmenet, but since they renewed the interface I cannot find it anymore. Must be hidden somewhere there!
Before it disappeared I used it a couple of times and the guys replied!0 -
I rang the 0800 0688638 number today asking where my introduction letter was. I got through to someone who gave the impression that I was talking to the right department. He said that there was no information about applications on the computer system and that I would have to wait a few more days for it to come through. He also said that there wasn't another number I could ring.
I then ignored his advice and rang the DirectSaver 0870 number and got through to someone straight away who found my application and was able to give me the current status.
So....bottom line.....try to get the information you need from the 0800 number first and use the 0870 as a last resort.0 -
I tried phoning the number on stop of my current account statement last night, they gave me a 0500 number to call but they said they couldn't deal with it and gave me a 0845 number to call. I called it this morning, it has an automated message telling me to call the 0870 number so I'm back to where I started.
I have found the message service to them on tinternet (you have to go to help at top of the page) and sent an e-mail I just hope they dont take ages as I put a cheque in yesterday for 5k (which is not showing yet this morning)
Girl at the branch said it would have to clear first before I could transfer it so I suppose I have a few days to wait anyway. I asked them to contact the right department for me but she said that they couldn't. Whats happened to a&l? they used to be such a helpful bank back in the days when they were something to do with the post-office. Now if you need help you just come up against brick walls:mad: Unless of course you call their 0870 number. That must be bagging them millions all the mistakes they keep accidently making on purpose.

A&L might give the best interest rates but it has been a known fact that their customer services is appalling. I also applied last Sunday for their Direct saver online and received an email confirmation that they have received my application and that they would reply in 48 hrs but until now I haven't heard from them. I already sent a secure message and has also promise to reply in 24 hours. I'll just wait and see.0

I just checked my online account and there was another message waiting for me. The account now has its correct title of Directsaver. I even got an apology from them (thats a first) for inconvenience caused.
