  • Gosh - what a horrid story. I might be tempted to get in touch with your MP to try and push Barclays to give your money back sooner rather than later. I know they aren't allowed to take benefit money but you might have a bit of a fight to get it back.
Also you can complain to the financial ombudsman (although I think you can only do this after you have formally complained to Barclays so you need to get a written complaint in to Barcalys ASAP).
I am sure things can be sorted out with your carer - please try not to worry - hopefully the Local Authority can step in.
Also it might be worth writing some very strong letters to the hospital for not signing your forms and to the estate agent that took your wedding ring - that's absolutely disgusting.
It sounds like things have hot rock bottom for you - if that's the case - the only way is up. I hope you can get things sorted soon.
    Best Wishes

I hope things are looking brighter today. Try not to worry, contact CAB and your social worker tomorrow and hopefully they will help get it all sorted out. Maybe you could ask a friend to call round too so that you can unburden a bit? Hope you are ok.
  • Please please call your social worker. They will be supportive, they certainly won't judge you, and I'm sure they'll be able to help get all this sorted.

  • Hello everyone,

I havent fallen off the planet, just not too well at the mo and finding it hard to do things with the unruly fingers, however

I have some news regarding my problem, and so many thanks to you all as without your help and suggestions I am sure things would just be spiralling downwards so to all of you :T:T:T:T:T:j:j:j

So As was suggested to me by some of you I went to the bank to explain my situation and a very kind lady who could see I was very upset and distressed with what had happened told me to go into a little room where I could have some privicy and call barclaycard from there and speak to them direct.
Well a very nice lady came to the phone, and I explained everything to her right from the start of my accident and disability and to why I was unable to make payments. I told her almost word for word as was
suggested to me by yourselves :T:T:j what the money was intended for and that I had set that account up only for this purpose as requested from social services. She asked me if I had a letter to confirm this, yes I replied and also a payment schedule. She asked me to get the bank to fax it through to them and .....whoopee

YES THEY REFUNDED ALL THE MONEY BACK INTO THE ACCOUNT!
She then said could I start to make payments monthly and how much I
could afford £5 I said???? And couldnt not believe my ears when she
    said yes that is fine.

I cannot thank all you mse members enough for caring about one very distressed person ie me to sort out what to me seemed like the end of the world at that time. I must also not forget to say a big thank you to barclaycard, no sorry not barclaycard, but the lady i spoke to. i say this because when I, like an idiot was in such a state started off on the wrong board where many people were quite rude to me and my thoughts at that time I remember vividly thinking what a horrible site but then fortunately in the nick of time was plucked from there to this board and what a difference. So a lesson I have learned is that it is not the companies that are bad but certain individuals that can either make your experience either heaven or hell.

I am thanks to certain people from both sides mse and barclaycard
Most definately in heaven and have ended up sorting out two problems for the price of one lol the money back for my carer and an arrangement to pay off the debt at a rate I can stick to. So no more letters of give us your money or phone calls

  • The one thing I will say for sure is "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to every one, and this site is on my favourites so I will definitely be sticking around. Maybe one day I may be in a position to help another and well I most certainly will try to at the very least.

Words cannot express the kindness and helpfulness you guys n girls have shown and done for me. :T:T:T:T

What a pleasant ending for the thread. Congrats to you. Sometimes there are individuals in an organisation who know what common sense is and if you can get on the phone to them it makes all the difference. I remember telling someone in Barclays I had lost my card and the lady telling me to 'use the phone at the back to ring them' 'who?' 'the lost and stolen centre' 'do you know the number?' 'no'. :rotfl:

Thank goodness you actually managed to speak to someone sensible in the end and get this sorted out. I'm sorry you had to go through it all in the first place but at least you had a positive outcome. I could have cried for you when I was reading the thread. All the very best to you.
