Help...Cedar Cladding advice .

Hi, I am having my house clad in Cedar cladding & I really would like to protect it to stop it going grey.

Has anybody used a treatment that really works? There are so many on the market & all the suppliers seem to recommend the products that they sell (understandably enough) - and all sell different products .

I am happy to treat it before it goes up & every year after if thats what it takes. But some treatments say that they need 4 coats to start & 8 hrs to dry... But how can you practically treat all that wood , both sides, 4 times , when it can't touch others until it dries?

And heck that sounds expensive!

I have thought of Linseed Oil, - but not sure it will be enough & once it goes grey then there's no going back.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks :o

why would you clad your house with an amazing natural material and then try to stop it weathering?? you should use a coloured cement board cladding, that will never discolour

i used to do some work on a cedar tiled bungalow - the people who constructed it reccommended tractor oil , which sounds bizare , but it seemed to do the trick ,i can't remember what make i used , it only needed 1 coat every 3-4 yrs .
