What size tin does your favourite recipe use - I'll then scale your recipe for you :)

  • If it's a round tin:
    325g butter
    570g caster sugar
    4tsp vanilla essence
    5 eggs
    125g SR flour
    350g P flour
    2 1/2 tsp bicarb
    110g cocoa powder
    500ml milk

    Cook at 180 C/ 350 F/ Gas 4 for 1 1/2 hours

Beat butter, sugar, vanilla until fluffy
Add eggs, one at a time
    Mix all dry ingredients
Alternately add dried mixture and milk to egg/butter mix
    Spoon into prepared tin.

Thanks for your quick replies. It is a round tin and Penelope i usually just use a 'bung' it all in together recipe of 6oz flour, marg, caster sugar, 3 eggs and a tablespoon of coco powder.

RealButter i'll try your recipe.....will i be ok to just grease and flour the tin before pouring the mixture in, or will i need to line it first with greased greaseproof paper?
  • I would grease the tin then line it, but grease and flour may work better fo ryou than it ever does for me!

When I first aw that recipe, it looked like too much liquid. I'd stop there, bake and see how you go :)

Let us know how it turns out.
