aw sad to hear that. At least he's got the pay and the redundancy so suppose you can count your blessings there.

Dont dwell on it too much and have a fantastic break away.
  • That's a bit pants really. It might give him the kick up the bum though to do some of that other stuff he wants to do now he hasn't got the job. Nothing like having to do it to motivate you.

You are better off than some facing it though aren't you. I hope things go as you are planning.

Just we will be fine, as long as I can pay the mortgage its all ok. He is still paid until January and he has 2 x 10 hour days at £11 a hour so that is enough to run his car and feed us all for a week. Christmas wise i'm pretty much set and now maternity leave is finished I have 2 fairs lined up for jewellery and i usually make a fair bit there. Overall i'm happy, its been less than a week but he is so much happier and relaxed. TBH I think its actually been quite a good thing.

Well it looks like i'm coming back. OH has secured permanent employment, a few k less than his previous position but better than a poke in the eye etc etc.

OH only starts today and already i have plans.

We have been here 1 year and 11 days and its plainly obvious we will be outgrowing this house in the next 5 ish years. SOOOO my mind is now planning a move. We think we will need a 5 bed home, mostly because we want the option of the girls to have a room each if they want and we want an office come workshop come parent space that i can leave my work out at and go back too rather than the moment where i work at the dining room table and store everything in understairs cupboard.

At the moment zopa has this as worth 139k and mortgage is probably about 111k, I havent checked statement in a long time as its depressing with no OP's for 5 months. Our aim is to buy larger but without increasing mortgage past 111k.

In our area you can buy a 5 bed new build semi for 195k, a 5 bed detatched in a rural villiage 10 miles away for 170k and a 5 bed stone built 1880's detatched 300 yards from our curent home for 220k. Out of them al I fancy the older stone built home, it means schools would be the same etc etc. So it means we would need to find 110k which is a huge huge huge ask.

The sketchy plan i have put together in my head is aim to be MF in this house then sell up and mortgage ourselves again up to 110k. Its certainly possible but a stretch. I need to look at how much our payments would need to be to be MF within 5 years. Our joint income is only 45k or there abouts so we would need to be effectively living on one wage I think
