Hello.
i feel really dumb having to ask for help, but i have never ever had need to make my own spreadsheet.
i use Open Office and all i want is a spreadsheet with one column.
i just want to know how to add a formula that total simple figures, pounds and pence.
eg. -1.24 +35.65 +21.21 -1.00 etc..as i add either a + or - i want there to be a running total.
thats it, thats all i need. giving the said column a name would also be useful. i have played around with OO for a while and just cant work it out:o
any help appreciated muchly.

MS office excel is pretty good, also very user friendly too.Your tax bill is the penalty you pay for not helping the right candidates get into office.:D0

OK... in Cell 1, 2, 3, 4 put your values in.
highlight cell 5 and click the Sum button (you will get SUM() in the cell and in the formula bar). Highlight Cell 1 and drag down until cells 1 thru 4 are highlighted. Hit Enter. Cell 5 will now contain the sum of cells 1 thru 4. Adjust to suit your requirements.0 -
if you put =sum(a2:a999) in box a1, then that will sum up the column (upto 999)Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

the subtotal function is very useful in excel too, just use the help (press F1) then search for subtotal) to work out how to use it, the syntax etc)0
