Ebay and paypal

Hi, I am a newbie to Ebay and have listed several items and chosen to receive payment by paypal. I'm confused, are there several ways you can pay through paypal? I have been charged 3.4 % and 20p because someone used card. The paypal info states I can only accept 2 cards a year? Do I need to upgrade? (I only want to sell a few items!). Or do I need to specify a different way of paying by Paypal? can I do this? How do other people get on? I am so totally confused, I thought it would simple !!

    Ok.

If you display the paypal / credit card logos on your auction (ie. you tick that you accept paypal) you MUST upgrade to a premier account so that you can accept credit cards.

When you upgrade to a premier accounts, payments that you receive will incur the fees you've heard about.

The OTHER way of accepting paypal payments is to accept money from CLEARED FUNDS only - this means the buyer has to have money in their account to pay you with. You can accept this type of payment with a basic account, but you shouldn't tick the 'I accept paypal' box as it makes people think that you can accept a card-sourced payment. You CAN then state on your auction that you accept paypal from cleared funds only. I don't think you pay fees on this type of payment.

If someone attempts to pay you with a credit card funded payment and you only have a basic account, you will either have to upgrade your account, or get them to pay another way. You can only legitimately refuse their credit card funded payment if you did NOT show the paypal / credit card logos on your listings.
