photoshop advice needed!

hello all,
an ex-workmate made me a copy of photoshop cs/illustrator, and i can't get it to load onto my laptop...
after opening photoshop this message comes up evenually...

'memory could not be allocated for the application process. Please close all applications and try again'

im a bit of a technophobe, so i don't really understand what i need to do...?
do i not have enough memory space?

there doesn't seem to be anywhere to click such as 'set up'

Any advice greatly appreciated
thanks

how much ram have u got ? illustrator is a killer app/ ,. u need a good spec lap/ in order to run that.
  • aaah, thanks, in that case it must be the RAM, as i've only really got a bog standard laptop.
think i'll have to give it up as a bad job then

Hi. I would say i'm a pretty advanced user and have come across this problem several time with friends having the same problem.
The only time I've seen such a message is when there is indeed not enough RAM to run the app. Do you have other applications running? Press CTRL ALT DEL to bring up a task manager to show how much memory is being used for all those applications you can see (and many more that you can't).

I got round this problem some time ago for a friend. Try to disable your anti-virus/firewall when you install. turn of your spyware

Try looking at the knowledge base here

Click Forum Search "Memory could not be allocated"

One common response was that the PS was a cracked copy and not legit.

    Hope this helps
