Cost of Replacing Consumer Unit (Fuse Box) - Bolton

Hi all
Just had BG out to look at some dodger sockets (as part of our Homecare Agreement).
He commented that our Consumer Unit was ancient and needs replacing. I actually agree with him. My house used to be flats many years ago, so i have TWO units (6 each and they are really really old)
Any sparkies out there who can comment?
Looking for one with about 14 slots.
Cheers

I can email you details of an electrician I used for my extension and new consumer unit who lives not too far away in Holcome Brook. He's very, very reasonable on price and did a great job on mine. He's just changed a unit and wired up a conservatory for my neighbour too.0 -

Please do Tucker...
Do you know what he charged your neighbour?0 -
PM sent with details.
Oh, he charged my neighbour £250 to fit the new unit (neighbour bought his own unit from B&Q) and wire up his conservatory with 3 or 4 double sockets and fit a ceiling light in there (including all cable and fittings). This also includes the Part P certificate needed for Building regs, which costs about £60 alone.0 -
If you don't have any luck with Tucker's contact - my brother (qualified electrician!) might be able to do this for you...he is near Bolton... He replaced my consumer unit when he rewired my kitchen and can do the certificate... Don't know how much he would charge (but he told me the quote I got of £550 for the consumer unit alone was high...I'm in Scotland and in the end he came up (300 miles) with his workmate and stayed a night in a B&B....)0
