Terrbile noise from upstairs

My husband and I have been living in our bought flat for 5 years now. It's a big old house which has been converted into flats. The issue is the guy upstairs now has a woman and child living there. The noise from them jumping up and down, walking around and slamming doors is getting unbearable!!!! We've asked them nicely…

Thank you to all your replies, we are moving becuase of work re-location and we are owner occupiers. We will be renting this out to tenants, and I'm really worried that they are going to want to move out becuase of the noise.

Looking at the lease and sadly nothing is in there about noise. HOWEVER, the guy above used to live by himself. Now there is this woman and her child. Once we've moved out, we're going to contact the landlord and find out if he knew! As far as I'm aware, SHE needs to be on the letting agreement. Bit of a nastly thing for us to do, but they are being totally unreasonable!
