Item not as described

Hi, I wonder if someone could advise me on the best way to proceed.
I bought an item described in good condition but when the item arrived it had damage that was not mentioned in the listing. The item was very well packaged so the damage wasn't done n transit.
Anyway I have contacted the seller to request a refund but i've not heard anything yet but will give another couple of days incase he doesn't check e-mail everyday..... If I do not hear anything which is the best way to proceed with a claim through e-bay or paypal I have had a look on the websites but really don't know which way is best.
THanks in advance for any help given in this matter

paypal is quickest, in my experience.0

Paypal are usually quicker but I've heard something to the effect that they are now redirecting claims through them for eBay items to eBay itself.
You have 45 days though so give the seller a reasonable amount of time to respond, particularly if there is nothing untoward in their feedback to suggest they don't handle complaints well."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
