If tesco advertises something which has expired, do they still have to honour it?

I'm a CS for Tesco and I thought we do (well at my store we honour the offer/price even if it has expired if it's still advertised) but I've heard stories where other stores don't honour it...
surely it's not store dependent and it's policy

I work at barrow-in-furness tesco extra and if i work on tills and team leaders always honour it as its tescos fault for not changing the label, most customers dont check the label to see if the offer is still valid

But legally, you don't have to.0

An advertised price is merely an offer to treat so generally no, the store is not bound by it.0

It's up to the discretion of the store manager or customer services or whoever deals with it. They don't legally have to sell it at that sale price but they do out of good will - It's good business ethics. The fact that the expiry date of the deal is on the price tag covers them anyway.
Mr. Shopper: This jam is normally £1 but the deal says 50p and I think the deal has expired.
Mr. Tesco: The deal has expired, but as it is advertised for 50p so that is the price that we will sell if you for.
Me Shopper: Thanks Mr. Tesco, I'll come back again.

Yeah, that's our store understanding, it's up to us to decide if we think the advert/label is misleading, and then we will honour it...thanks everyone

Unlike one I had recent.
Mr. Me: I'll have those two ginsters for £1 please!
Ms. Sainsburys: That'll be £2.20 please!
Mr Me: They are supposed to be 2 for £1
Ms. Sainsburys: Oh that sign shoudn't be up there. Pay £2.20 or be on your way.
Mr Me: Bye then!0 -

Mr. Tesco is nicer than Ms. Sainsburys but Mr + Mrs Asda are a lot nicer than both of them put together.

Mr Tesco used to be the best....when R&R was around....ah, happy days.
[R&R was Refund and Retain - where if you were overcharged you got ALL your money refunded and got to keep the item. It was stopped when they lost £8million [I kid you not] on Xboxes and Playstations in about 3 weeks [people were overcharged a penny and were getting to keep a £250 package [I got three of them]]. There was a thread on here where we would all post misprices for each other to 'find' and 'claim and R&R on].
I made [iirc] about £4k on the R&R policy. Now it's just DTD [double the difference].Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Agreed, providing the buyer points out the 'misprice' before paying.
If they pay before they notice the misprice then they have been either 'overcharged' or else store is guily of misleading labelling/advertising.
In such circumstances a store would be well advised to honour the price, as a call to TSO would cost the store way more than the 'misprice'.
So in summary, pay and then query at CS as opposed to query at the till before paying .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0
