Ikea kitchens anyone?

Ours has been in 3 years and no problems at all. We even fitted it ourselves as two total novices with very little diy experience. There's probably a couple of bits taht would have been better fitted by a professional but I think it's only us that really notice as we were hyper critical when we were fitting it. With regards to no cavity at the back we just had washing machine and dishwasher either side of the sink and the pipes went under the unit.
We have a bank of drawer units at the front of our kitchen and aesthetically it looked better for them to be completely in line with the back door so we actually built a false wall to the unit height about 6" forward of the wall, this made it a doddle to fit the units as it was actually completely true unlike the wall! We then ordered the custom worktop from Ikea to cover the extra depth and it's worked really well having a really deep worktop.0 -
We are on our second house and second Ikea kitchen - would definately buy again. Installed in 2005 - designed and fitted ourselves, we did get posh worktops from elsewhere and got a fitter to put those in as OH wasn't confident in doing but glad we did as finish is great.
You can fit so much into them and there are so many unit combinations that you could almost fit anything into a space. Ours looks lovely and is still going strong.0 -
The only issues i had were two wrong parts being delivered and the Wood worktop is splitting in parts
