I've had one as well. I posted on here where I do most of my posting.

I haven't received the E-mail. (Have checked that it's not in Junk nor in the Orange spam-filter.) Joined Jan 20090

This is a breach of The Data Protection Act from the moneysavingexpert site, so the users need an explanation or it needs to be reported to the Information Commissioners Office :mad:0

Havung not used MSE for a while i too have received the email, thinking it was genuine and perhaps could be useful I dd open the zipped file and and clicked the contents ooops. Its not like me i'm usually very careful, anyway checking the folders with my AV doesn't show anything and currently running malwarebytes and superanti spyware to see if it comes up with anything.
will let you know.0 -
Ive had 2 here one to the registered email and one to my private email ,unfortunatly I read my emails before coming on here I have no idea what damage it may have caused to my laptop as it seems to be fine at the minute0

I didn't realise today that I had an old account on MSE until receiving the email. I have two accounts - one registered in 2010 and this one registered pre-2010 both on different email addresses.
I can confirm that the pre-2010 email address received the spam but the account created 2010 has, so far, not received the spam email.
Bit surprised that MSE didn't send out an email to all account holders from the previous incident letting them know that their details had been obtained by unauthorised access. Although I see the post from Webby above shows that the breach was posted on the MSE forums I'd have expected a push rather than a pull communication on something so important as DPA.0 -

This is probably nothing to do with this site as nefarious webizens can use certain tools to skim websites for user details; if anything, this is a forged email claiming to be from moneyexpert.com.
There are many tools available on the darknet to skim fora, collect user details and then use them for 'evil' purposes, however you view this incident, bear in mind that your house address and phone number can be used either randomly or targeted as that information is 'public knowledge'.
Being registered with TPS or being ex-directory will not stop you being telephoned. Removing your house number from your door will not stop junk mail.

I own a domain name and get all emails sent to a different email address in Money Saving Expert case I get it sent to moneysavingexpert.com@mydomainname.com this is so I can block emails once a company starts sending spam etc.
The email we all got this morning not only has MSE unique email address it also has my forum username.
What other information has MSE leaked/sold?
The subject is From MoneyExpert.com to DonnyDave and it has been sent to my forums@mydomain address which I use on various forums. On a number of those I have registered as DonnyDave.
If what 0dd8a11 is saying is true, then I am horified. I always ensure that my e-mail address is kept private, and up to now I've had no spam to forums@.0 -
I've had one of these emails, joined 2008. The email address which was spammed is not the same address MSE newsletters go to which has not been spammed (yet).0
